They, of course, were all beautiful and I was awestruck by the surrounding scenery! Much different vistas than my 3-4 feet above sea level where I live!!!

I most definitely was Rocky Mountain High!! 8-) 8-) 8-)

Mt. Elbert is the highest - 14,433 feet

Pike's Peak was one scary ride - around those turns and it's hard to imagine that two cars can pass by each other on that trail. I had mountain sickness when we got to the summit. My father was so excited that I came out to see him and he wanted to show me the sights right away. I literally got off of the plane and he wisked me up to the peak. It was the wildest & weirdest feeling I ever had. It didn't take me long to recover and I'm usually okay with the atmosphere. You just have to give your body sometime to adjust.

Not exactly sure of the highest, but my Grandfather took me all over the West when I was in my teens and I distinctly remember some of the signs in the passes saying something above 12,000 feet. I don't think I have been up to the 14,000 foot level though.

Hmm . . . I don't know . . . jetliners must do about 37,000 these days . . . 8-)

On solid ground? GE puts the highest point on the part of Skyline Drive I've been on at around 3400 feet, though some parts go up to 3800 feet or so. It's not bad for a poorly-traveled kid from the east . . .

I'm guessing about 2,000m up a mountain but I'm not sure exactly how much.

Mt. Evans, Colorado, somewhere just below the summit at 14,264'. Although not nearly so majestic, you definitely feel like you are on top of the world when you visit Mt. Washington, New Hampshire, at 6,288'. Both are windy and cold places, but the 231 mph record at Mt. Washington still stands.

I've been to Mt. Washington as well. I went with my Grandmother, Grandfather, brother and Aunt and Uncle with their children. We went up to the summit via the cog railway. It was I think in the 80's when we boarded the train (It was the week Elvis died) and in the 30's when we got to the top.

I have a picture of me sitting at the summit of Mt. Evan. It almost looks as if I'm sitting amongst the mountains. I was at the edge of the stone wall and all you could see were other mountain peaks in the distance. My brother, Daren, couldn't make the rest of the walk from the car to the lookout point because of mountain sickness. He just kind of layed on a stone walkway by the visitor's center.

I'm not sure of the elevation, but it's on the road between Mount LeConte(6,593 feet), and Clingmans Dome(6,643 feet), right on the TN/NC border in the Smokies. Has to be close to 6,000 feet at least. We passed through there in January of 2005 and saw lots of snow still from a couple of days earlier(it was mostly gone down in the valleys).

I need to make a correction on my response...I've been to the Canadian Rockies about 9 years ago. I spent time at Banff National Park, Jasper National Park, and Glacier National Park while I was there. I don't remember what the elevation was, but I do remember when we were on the ice fields at Athabasca Glacier. I was up there in August and I remember it snowing while we were up on the ice fields. It was the coolest thing I had ever seen. I also remember watching Pre-season Monday night football end at 8 PM, and being able to go out and the sun was still shining. I just wish I could remember what the elevation was.

Clingman's Dome in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee and North Carolina. The mountain stands 6643 feet tall. I have flown at 39000 before. Does that count?
