Set to go into production. Primarily an educational tool, as opposed to something for the office. Here's the link.

Just think, in a few years, Elementary and Middle School students in the US may have a chance at using a laptop.

Yeah Texstooge, many of the private schools already have laptops mounted on to the desks for their students. Don't think it will be too much longer before middle and high school students at public schools have the same thing. I know the laptop quoted in the article refers mainly to a stripped down version with a very small monitor for kids in third world countries. But even your standard laptops are coming down in price. My brother picked one up at Wal-Mart last week for $398 dollars.

I once had a school-issued laptop on my last year of High School. Many of us (including me) wish they would've kept it after graduation though, but we all had to return them for other students to use the next year.

At my HS, we could loan out a laptop any time we wanted just like a library book.

A large number of public schools now give students laptops. A few of the districts around here do it.

Holy crap! Our kids don't even get paper unless the parents buy it and send it to class. Our public school system has NO money so it will be decades before laptops are even considered here.

I go to private school and we definitely don't have laptops, unless you buy them on your own. And we aren't even allowed to bring them to school. *tear* Our computer lab isn't as nice as the public high school either! I hate private school.. le sigh.
