Mexican town BURIED in hail!

These are pictures of a fierce hail storm that pounded the town of Cananea Sonoroa, Mexico, last night.

"I was talking with my mother this morning," writes international viewer Ing. Hctor Manuel Germn Gardner, "and she says that in her whole life she didn't remember something like yesterday ever happening in Cananea, and she's almost 80 years old!!!"

You can see, hail the size of golf balls and bigger fell upon the town, along wth flooding rain.

"There was a lot of damage caused by the hailstorm," writes Ing. Gardner. "It lasted more than one hour and it was really scary. Lots of cars got their windshields broken and many houses were flooded."

Amazing pic, it truly buried the town. I did some research, the town is located in a mountainous region south-east of Nogales Arizona ( a border town). The rainy season is June to September, and occasionaly does experience hailstorms, though not as violent and heavy as the one on Thursday night.

That is crazy. I bet that was a mess to drive on.

As my grandpa might say... "That was one hail of a storm!" :ggreen:

I believe that's the first time I've heard of a summer storm being blamed on global cooling. 8-)

Also, I'm moving this to the appropriate forum.

I'd be fine with that, I love cold snowy winters. :ggreen:

Specifically, Cananea is located 45 miles south of Sierra Vista which is 15 miles north of the Border. You can not reach the city (site of a large Copper Mine) from Nogales but have to enter Mexico via the Border Crossing in Naco AZ which is SE of Sierra Vista. Although the town is nestled against the mountains, it's actually on the far side of the Upper San Pedro Valley in Mexico and can be seen from the entance to the Coronado National Memorial on a clear day.
