Yesterday the forecast high for today was 99, they dropped it to 97.

It's 93 already. I think we might push 100.

Wow...your forecast highs are higher than south louisiana where it's only forecasted to be 92. It's only 88° here right now with a heat index of 98°. Do you have a high heat index too?

Stay cool :cold:

its 92° here with a HI of 106°. We don't get heat waves here on the coast because of the water.

Usually on a day like this the dew point runs 70-75, sometimes higher, putting the heat index around 105-110 and sometimes 115, but today thankfully it's only about 62. So the Heat Index is one 1 degree above the air temp. (93 currently)

Excessive Heat Warning
(Expires: Tuesday July 10 6:00PM EDT)

new castle-mercer-gloucester-camden-northwestern burlington-
chester-montgomery-bucks-delaware-philadelphia-
including the cities of...wilmington...trenton...glassboro...
camden...cherry hill...moorestown...mount holly...west chester...
norristown...doylestown...media
405 am edt mon jul 9 2007

...excessive heat warning remains in effect from noon today to
6 pm edt tuesday...

temperatures this afternoon are forecast to peak in the upper 90s.
these temperatures, when combined with dew points in the mid 60s,
yield heat indices of around 100. highly urbanized areas locally
will be even hotter, and little relief is expected tonight or
tuesday.

maximum heat indices near or above 100 degrees can create a
situation in which heat illnesses are possible, especially if they
recur over a number of days.

wednesday is expected to be quite humid. at the present time,
maximum temperatures are not expected to exceed the lower 90s due
to more cloud cover and the possibility of thunderstorms.
however, studies have shown that the longer heat lasts, the more
it can be life-threatening. the danger from the heat could extend
into wednesday.

relief from the heat and humidity ultimately should arrive in the
form of a cold front on wednesday night or thursday.

an excessive heat warning for the highly urbanized areas of the
delaware valley means that a prolonged period of dangerously hot
temperatures will occur, especially in city environs. the
combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to
create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are likely.
drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out
of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

please remember your pets and domestic animals. at a minimum, they
need a shaded and well-ventilated area and access to plenty of
cool water. regarding pets, the most humane thing to do is to
bring them indoors.

finally, never leave any person or animal unattended in a vehicle
for any length of time.

Our hottest day so far was 97 back on June 26th.

Our high should peak in in next hour or so.

Well, don't forget about your southerly neighbors! We're getting it worse than you are . . . yesterday maxed out at 100 at CJR, but without the humidity (DPs around 60 at most :D). Today, though, it's already scorching. HI's been at 101 since 11am now, and the temperature is bound to burst up again at any point here . . .

Sorry, I think I'm going to be enjoying that thunderstorm line that developed to my south and gave me some great inflow breeze . . . my temp is down to 86° and feelin' good!

The airport is to my south, and therefore they got the storm. Down to 82° there, though not before topping out at 97/72, which is a HI of 106.

95F, dew point 73F, heat index 105F.
Official Cecil Field temp.

Its a drier heat than what one would normally expect. I'm not even sweating when I go outside.
I'll take this over 90F with sweat inducing humidity.

My thermometer at home is reading 101F in the shade. dewpoint of 77F, giving a heat index of 119F.
(wife confirmed both Mercury thermometers are showing about 100F)

My house is kind of in a valley type area, Im usually 3-5 degrees warmer during the day versus the official reading.
Im too far inland to ever receive a seabreeze, and no big water nearby.

I feel for you all. Here's hoping that it will cool off over there. I know the heat and humidity can be intense.

Anyway, we've been getting hot too, but it's cooler at night over here and we don't have to deal with the humidity (but have lots of wildfires due to lack of humidity).

We're only supposed to have a few days of 90 per year, but this year is HOT. Here are our temps so far in July:

Here's hoping that you guys will see some relief too. In the meantime, enjoy the summer anyway you can! 8-) Hopefully you all have nearby pools to hand out in!

We really did luck out Monday and even Tuesday with the lower dewpoints and humidity.

Today was just downright oppressive, but we got some good thunderstorms and good rain out of it! :)

My indoor/outdoor thermometer says it's 74 degrees out right now, but it's still as muggy as heck!
