Can't we just agree that it is dull right now?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Can't we just agree that it is dull right now?

#1 Postby DanKellFla » Tue Jun 26, 2007 1:59 pm

The tropics are dull. Dull makes me very happy. Soon enough, we will have plenty to talk about. It might be this year or later, but that is still soon enough for me. Right now, it is blob poofing time. :D

Nothing would make me more happier then another quite season in 2007 as folks along the gulf coast are still trying to put there lives back together.Thats the main problem there's to much focus put on numbers predicted rather the thinking that even a very slow season can turn out really bad.In 2007 it may very well be the case were the season does not get going till august.

No matter how slow or how busy the season is the action you take well before there is real significant storm threat can make the difference between a major storm being an aggravating inconvenience or a family catastrophe.A very weak hurricane can be a life changing event if the right steps and a family plan are not in place.

I could not agree more after living in the FL Keys from 2001-2006. Old nieghbors done there have not fully recovered from Wilma!

If it's so dull why is the weather in the Caribbean and the GOM the first thing I check EVERY morning? Maybe it's just me......I find nothing dull about any type of weather.

I take dull and $3.00 a gallon for gas rather than busy $5.00 a gallon gas if the refineries are interupted in the NW GOM.

The tropics may be dull right now,but its anything but,in Texas. It feels like we've been getting a tropical storm dumping on us for the past few weeks . If Chantal doesn't show up by the end of July,I'll be ready to declare the season a dud

Well, after I lost the house to Hurricane Andrew, I finally discovered that dull is good (I wish August 24, 1992 was just another dull day in Miami)...

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder? :D

I do the same thing. I know it bugs my wife, but she ignores it now. It came in handy when Ernesto decided to come to Florida last year. I was at the gas station at 6 AM filling up. When I drove past it on my way to work at 7 AM there was alread a line of 15 cars on the road.

Dull is good...but...dull can lead to complacent for the uninitiated...complacent is bad.
I have found that in years past a few TD's or TS's keeps the blood flowing and the preps in the forefront of peoples minds. Even I find myself putting off getting the last few things on my list. Seems I can always find better uses for those few bucks than to pickup an extra chainsaw blade or a spare air filter for the genny.

I can agree that it's a bit dull now, however I expect it to be this time of year regarding tropical cyclogenesis. Fortunately, there is S2K's Talking Tropics forum to keep me entertained and informed during the these times leading up to the peak of the season.

I am not calling it dull..I am calling it average. This is very typical late June weather in the tropics. Things don't really start to heat up for another month or so.

BTW: With two storms already, this season is already above average for the time of year.
