Mother's Day plans?

#1 Postby alicia-w » Tue May 08, 2007 2:36 pm

This is my first Mother's Day without any of my brood around. I'm hoping to go to Chaco Canyon that day, if the weather holds up. Maybe Taos.

We'll be with my in-laws in Atlanta. It's my wife's first Mother's Day as a mom unless you include last year, when she was pregnant.

We always go to my sister-in-laws. She and her husband married late and decided not to have children so she pampers all the moms in the family instead. It's such a pleasant day!

This will be one of the best Mother's Days ever for me. My fiance and I are (finally!) getting married, our 5 year old son will of course be there, my older son (who I don't usually get to see on Mom's Day) from RI will be flying down with my mother and other family members, and I'm 6 months pregnant. (Due in August....should make for an interesting hurricane season, to say the least, lol). So, I fully intend on being quite the spoiled princess this Sunday!

And since my grandparents spend the entire month of May down here, it will be the first time in years that my mom gets to spend the day with her mom.

It doesn't get much better than all that!

If you go to Taos, eat at "Little Anitas"...it's on the way to Rio Grande Gorge Bridge out by the Taos Pueblos, BEST New Mexican food bar NONE in the entire STATE of NM :wink: It's on the left hand side of the road, it has a "tree fence" around the outside patio area, you have to look really close for it...well, just look for ALL of the cars there!!

Mothers Day? Visit my mothers grave and have a BBQ for Michelle, dat's about it!

Little Anita's? If it's the same as the local group in Albuquerque, no thanks. Been there, done that. Thanks for the recommendation but NOT impressed. We'll be going to Joseph's Table in the Hotel la Fonda de Taos.

LOL!! No, it's NOT the same Little Anitas as ABQ....I know, I can't STAND Little Anitas at Old Town "BLeeech!" It's like "Swansons Mexican TV Dinners!"

No...this Little Anitas, at least I THINK that's the name of it, is like I said, the BEST of the BEST New Mexican food, I should know...most of family was born in Taos, my mother and both my sisters. We still have a LOT of friends in Taos

Please don't ask me about Mothers Day :cry: But I do have a couple interesting decisions to make.. My oldest niece graduates from HS on Sunday.. I gotta see if I get a ticket to the event and go..

Also, Andrea's Mom has invited me to spend the day with her.. but.. I'm not sure I wanna go.. {she swears Andrea won't be there..}

Or.. since its going 2 be a sad day 4 me.. I may just wanna spend it alone.. and mourn :cry:..

I actually lost it at work today because I saw something on our Mothers Day display, a cute little thing for flowers.. where when u push the button it sings "You are my Sunshine".. My mom always used to sing me that song when I was depressed.. :cry: I wish I could hear it now.. :sad:

I'm so sorry about your Mom. I lost my Dad a few years ago and Father's Day is always very hard. It helps me to find my own special little way of honoring him. Could be anything....going to a favorite place, listening to a special song, having a chat with him (or her, in your case). Take care of yourself, you'll figure out what's the right thing for you to do. Just do what you feel is right, in your heart.
