and her parents are no help at all. From the article at People.com:

Judge Sauer was particularly stern with his comments to Hilton, whom, he said, "disregarded everything" by repeatedly driving with a suspended license.

After the general public had cleared the courtroom, Hilton began to tear up. Sheriffs brought her a box of Kleenex, and she held a wad of tissues to her face as she placed her head down.

Then, said Edwards, Hilton's mother, Kathy Hilton, angrily burst from the courtroom seating area toward the attorneys' table, saying loudly, "I can't believe this, I can't believe this."

She went over to her daughter's side, standing over her and putting her arm around Paris as others crowded around her.

Eventually, Paris stood and was hugged by her father, Rick Hilton, who said, "I can't believe this, either."

"I don't know what happened," said Paris. "I did what they said."

Kathy Hilton, red in the face, then walked up to one of the prosecutors and screamed, "You're pathetic." She then asked sarcastically, "Can I have your autograph?"

The prosecutor to whom Hilton had delivered her outburst completely ignored her, said Edwards.

About half a dozen sheriffs' deputies then approached Kathy Hilton, who screamed at them, "Don't you touch me, don't you touch me."

As the family was about to exit the courtroom, said Edwards, Kathy Hilton declared for all to hear, "[The judge] made up his mind before he even came in today. If it were anyone else, this would've never had happened."

She then exclaimed, "And after all the money we spent!"

Poor Paris, she never had a chance!!

Sooner or later, your actions will determine your future.

Paris thinks that she lives in a world dominated by her and she doesn't notice that she lives in the US and that she must obey laws. She is not only a danger to humanity but also to herself.

Money has a lot of power over mankind, but fortunately the law prevailed at the end.

Now you know if she does go to jail she will be under tight security. They couldn't risk having her get hurt.

I was wondering if, during her jail term, she would go thru DT's from drug and alcohol withdrawal. If so she would be put into a medical facility in the jail.

an article i read earlier said she would be in the general population but in her own cell. heck, if Leona Helmsley and Martha Stewart could make it in prison, this bimbo can.

She'll make it through fine. As some here have commented, she'll be protected. Why? because if she's injured in there, the Hiltons have the means to sue the county and win.

Personally, I think the whole thing is a publicity stunt by Ms. Hilton.

isnt there some sort of law that says if you're convicted of a crime, you cant profit from it, i.e writing a book, etc?

Not that I've ever heard of. FOr instance, have you ever read or seen "Catch me if You Can"? That's an autobiographical story about a check-fraud artist. He made a fortune on both the book and the movie. Very entertaining stuff. That of course doesn't mean such a law doesn't exist.

What it does, though, is it gives her more "street cred" with American youths. Thus it may help revive her flagging showbiz career.

I'm not saying she has this plan, just that I'm suspicious. The Hiltons can afford attorneys that could have successfully kept her out of jail.

A lot of states have laws that prohibit felons from profiting from their crime:

California law prohibits a "convicted felon" or a "profiteer of the felony" from making money by describing or selling memorabilia associated with the crime. Too bad she isnt convicted of a felony. Or, as suggested, this maybe a slyly calculated move. in any case, i hope it backfires.

That's supposedly the case in the UK, but it gets bent around quite a bit.

I dont think Paris Hilton is a convicted felon. I believe this is a misdemeanor (if it were a felony, she'd likely go to state prison)
