STAFFORD AND SOUTHEASTERN PAWNEE COUNTIES...



AT 1153 PM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE METEOROLOGISTS AND STORM
SPOTTERS WERE TRACKING A LARGE AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TORNADO. THIS
TORNADO WAS LOCATED 2 MILES WEST OF ST. JOHN...MOVING NORTHEAST AT 15 MPH.

ONE OR MORE TORNADOES MAY EXIST WITH THIS STORM!! TAKE COVER NOW IN
SAINT JOHN!!

DESTRUCTIVE STAIGHT LINE WINDS SOUTH OF THE TRACK OF THE TORNADO
CAN BE EXPECTED OF 80 MPH OR HIGHER IN SAINT JOHN IF THE TORNADO
MISSES THE TOWN TO THE NORTH.

THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND LIFE THREATENING SITUATION. A
LARGE TORNADO HAS BEEN CONFIRMED!. IF YOU ARE IN THE PATH OF THIS
DESTRUCTIVE TORNADO...TAKE COVER IMMEDIATELY IN A BASEMENT OR OTHER
UNDERGROUND SHELTER AND GET UNDER SOMETHING STURDY.

The couplet may be starting a weakening trend. The cell is going outflow dominant. Unfortunately, this turn of events is likely too late for St. John.

No direct hit there but had 80-mile-an-hour winds.

You (and your soruce, the TV station) don't know that. They're just reading what the NWS is writing. The NWS was speculating in their warning text, essentially saying "if Saint John doesn't get hit, they'll get the RFD, which is going to seriously muss your hair".

Storm just split. Left-mover is racing off to the NW. Right-mover will likely now reorganize and re-intensify.
