Survival
God forbid one of our areas would get bombed; what would you do for survival till help came. This is big time like 10 times bigger than 9/11. No warning. You probably are not stocked with enough food to last long, or water.
How would you get by a week or more till someone came to help you?
Me... I guess I would just sit it out and ration all my food to last at least a week. Ice cubes, etc. would be melted and any water I have would be rationed too. Thank God there is stuff in the freezer to eat and bbq. Enough to share with neighbors, etc. before it spoils.

I would ration our use of food and water. We would decontaminate (sterlilize) other available small sources of water. We would also take advantage of any available resources (including personal shelter and first aid treatment) and use our limited supplies carefully. We have flashlights (including one waterproof light that does not rely upon batteries) and a small portable television that operates on batteries.

Same as how I would handle it in case of a hurricane -- canned food and other non-perishables. I'd be prepared to live without electricity. The thing I'd hate most is not having fresh fruit and veggies...and no A/C! Ugh!

Come on folks stop and think? What did your ancestors do to survive 100 years ago before generators and freezers and in some cases a clean water supply. If they hadn't survived none of us would be here now. Rule one, don't rely on government it won't be there, rule two, back to the basics. Water is all around you unless your in the middle of the sahara and even there you can find it if you look hard enough. Anyone can survive anywhere if you want to. It's only when you give up your dead. Try the local library and find out what plants live in your area that are edible, if you don't fish learn how buy a rod and reel and some bottled or canned bait to use, check out the survivalist websites and stock up on MRE's or canned water. One more thing buy a gun and learn how to use it.

Where I live would probably be reasonably ok unless there was like a worldwide catastrophy, I have no experience in hunting, but I would like to think that I have the intelligence to be able to work something out.
There is a fair amount of woodland not far (<5 miles) from where I live, so that should be ok for a few weeks at least, even knowing very little about hunting.
If I could buy a gun I would (damn UK laws and my parents being against guns :p). I'd buy a 9mm pistol (for self defence), a crossbow (for hunting/sniping) and a shotgun (mainly for hunting bigger animals).

That's the reason we have a woodstove! A woodstove is duel purpose. The food is dried, no need for cold storage. For fresh meat, I would hunt, season or no season, what are they going to do, take away my birthday for feeding my family?
