Hi, I know I dont post much, but Im real frustrated right now. My son (20) is signing up to take classes at the community college here in Florida (Palm Beach County). In order for him to take classes, I need to provide info for a "Fldorida Resident for Tuition Purposes Affidavit". Info such as MY drivers license number, vehicle registration number and voter registration number (this I have no idea where it is. plus I didnt even need it for the last election).
The thing is he lives on his own (in Florida no less) has a job and pays his own rent/bills and did his own taxes. The woman at the registras office said that this is a state law for anyone under 24. What is the real reason they need this info? He is paying his own way. What if me and his dad (who lives in tennessee) were dead, then what?

it's required so they can determine if the kid gets in-state or out-of-state tuition rates. they told you it's for kids under 24, and they need the info so they can verify you're a Florida resident...
