Relax....

Be wary, but not scared. Keep an eye out, but keep on living.

No offense, Dennis, but for a law enforcement officer, why are you always so afraid? Do you actually mean afraid...fear...scared? Or do you actually mean "worried? "

Why be scared. How many anniversaries have we had so far and nothing has happened?

Hold up.... Your credibility wasn't what was challenged. Just trying to understand your fears, if that's what they were, because you've posted a lot in the past about "things to come" and in a somewhat pessimistic tone, but I know you know God so I'm just trying to get where you're coming from so maybe we can allay some of those fears.

I hope that you are wrong about those fears, Dennis, but I can understand having that in the back of everyone's mind. There's always a copy cat out there.

I know we have discussed here, when awful things like this have happened the possibility of how it relates to the book of Revelations and the rapture. I think that's what Duckie meant.

No, I still don't get why. You're not explaining it.

(BTW, I'm no longer a mod so I know it's not me stopping you. And, of course, you can cuss me out in a PM now since I'm not on staff.)

O.K., hopefully someone can explain this to me fairly simply. I do not know what the hell has been going on recently, but this is getting rediculous...why is everyone suddenly at each others throats? I thought this was a "family-oriented" site, not a "lets just go around yelling at each other" site...maybe I am mistaken, but this definately does NOT seem like the S2K I first loved so well. I do not know what has been going on recently with all of this, but IMHO the sniping at each other, regardless of who is doing what, needs to stop. I'm not bashing on any one person, I'm talking about overall. Just my $0.02 (...plus its just sad to watch two mature adults sit there and argue...)

The significance of Friday is not Columbine, but rather the date. It's representative number (4/20) is extremely significant to many young people. The reason the Columbine attacks were carried out on that day was likely because of the number.

Isn't friday like National Pot Day or something? I've heard several people talk about it at school...

Interesting. I grew up in the 70's and never heard of that. And it's not like pot wasn't available on every street corner and easily available.

Who knows why Harris and Klebold chose April 20th to carry out their depraved fantasy. Could be a Neo-Nazi homage to Hitler, or maybe because the tragedies in Oklahoma City and Waco inspired them in their quest to bring down "the system" so they saw choosing the same date as carrying on a morbid tradition. But I think that the 4/20 "holiday" is the most likely reason. Those creeps didn't have any friends but each other and a few "trenchcoat mafia" aquaintances, but stoners generally seem to be the most accepting of the cliques in today's suburban high schools. Perhaps in their quest to exact revenge on all the popular kids who rejected them, they chose 4/20 so as to spare the few students that they saw as being friendly towards them. There was a story going around that all their "wierd little friends" - the trenchcoat mafia, the outcasts, the dropouts and the druggies- skipped school that day because they knew of the diabolical plans those two had, but really they were all just skipping out and getting high because they saw nothing better to do with their lives. Ironically that saved their lives...the Columbine killers had a vendetta against the percieved winners, not the losers, and on 4/20 the high school's population would have had the highest popular-loser ratio.

These kinds of killings are usually planned out to every last little detail. I wonder why Cho Seung chose the Engineering department along with a French classroom and a German class. Being an English major he wouldn't even have had much contact with those students and professors. Baffles me, but then again I can't understand how anybody could do something so barbaric as what occurred on Monday.

Some little *** is going to pull something Friday, but it'll be as harmless as a fire alarm. Because of the Columbine anniversary and the Virginia Tech tragedy, opportunistic kids will be phoning in bomb threats across the country to get school cancelled on 4/20.
