Firefighter rescues dog from icy lake

#1 Postby TexasStooge » Wed Mar 07, 2007 11:56 am

DENVER (AP) - A black Labrador named Pearl plunged through thin ice on a Denver lake and was rescued by a firefighter who scooted along the ice and scooped up the scrambling pooch.

The rescue was caught on video by two television stations. Pearl could be seen desperately pawing at the slick ice for several minutes, trying and failing to pull herself out of the water in a northwest Denver park.

Pearl's owner, Wanda Padilla, ran out on the ice after her and a passer-by called 911.

I loved seeing the dog wagging as it was back on land.

I miss my black lab.

That was a great video. Amazing how that dog kept it's paws on the ice to avoid drowning.

I saw this video as well and was so happy to see the dog wagging its tail! Awww ohiostorm/Luke, sorry you miss your dog. Is she/he gone or are you away at school, missing your dog? My college daughter misses our dog more than she misses us!
