Board is still broken

#1 Postby hurrican19 » Thu Feb 15, 2007 8:06 am

Does anyone else have problems still??? I can NOT stay logged in, if I click login, and i put in my username/password, I end up getting a white page, then have to click the back button in my browser, and click on the phpbb icon, then im logged in. I'm quite sure that this is the reason it is still so quiet here! I would love to see some donation money spent on purchasing vBulletin -- I'd donate towards that cause.

Anyway, just wanted to see if anyone else is having issues still.

Please please please be patient. Our admins are working really hard on this. They know what's going on and the problems we're having.

It worked for me as well. Thanks for the tip.

For some reason the server is not creating "cookies" and the Admins are trying to figure out why. It's frustrating for all of us. :(

Let's worry about the problems at hand for now. We'll answer other questions later. We are in touch with the phpbb people and are working on the problem. PLEASE BE PATIENT!

yeh i was confused and didn't come to the board for a few days b/c of this. I was thinking that it was broken. I signed in and got the white page. I just realized that after I get that white page I can type the URL for this site again and just click on a forum like 'winter weather' and then i'm magically logged in again. Weird? Oh well as long as I can post weird posts like this againn I'm happy :)

Just a question here for clarification. Will security features, firewall additions, and better filters for spammers be enhanced by this upgrade to a newer server? I've noticed more and more spammers under similar IP addresses (anonymously from "US", "USA", "Latvia", "UK", "Dominika", "India", "world", "worldwide", and numerous similar proxy locations) joining the site in the recent two years and recent months and spamming the forums with advertisements and explicit content. When everything is resolved, will the server have better filtering to exclude, detect, anf prohibit these spammers? Thanks for any information. This has been annoying me more frequently in recent months with the old (original) server and the newer server.

Million dollar servers can't get rid of spammers. We do our best to get rid of them as soon as they appear. I guess the mods are the "detectors and prohibitors" of spammers.

Our admins are doing the best they can with the time they have. They have fulltime jobs that come first.

Donation money is simply that. The only people who should dictate how it should be used are the admins that work (for free) at keeping this site going. jmo

Marshall is doing the best that he can. The board is going to be offline at 9 eastern so he can fix the problem.

Working OK now

#20 Postby jimvb » Fri Feb 16, 2007 11:21 pm

The board seems to be working OK now, that is, unless a conniption happens when I press the "Submit" button.
