Problems accessing NOAA disscussions and forecasts

#1 Postby boca » Sat Feb 10, 2007 6:27 pm

I haven't been able to bring up city disscussions and city forecasts this afternoon. Are others having the same issues with this?

Models spin circles and wave flags

#3 Postby jimvb » Sun Feb 11, 2007 7:17 pm

I had the same problem trying to get NOAA-related weather models such as NAM and GFS. The usual site,

http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/nwprod/analysis/

kept moving bars, waving Microsoft flags, presenting infinite hourglasses and doing anything else except display me the model results. The results were slow to come up, and many times I was getting "this page can't be displayed". Wish that could happen to the storm itself when it arrives here. It won't be displayed and we will have sunny weather all day long on Tuesday.

Anyone know what happened to the model sites?

The sites are probably getting overloaded. Also there's the infamous weekend curse by which the computers running the models have a nasty tendency to go down on Sunday nights which means no Monday morning model runs.
