Lake Effect Snow Photos
So far, I've uploaded a substantial number of photos from the ongoing historic LES event. Many thanks to all who permitted me to use your photos or have allowed me to do so when they are posted. Without your photos, my efforts to document this extraordinary event would have been inadequate.

I just checked and here is a look at the average annual snowfall totals for a few of the impacted cities:Yankeegirl wrote:Do they normally get this large amounts of snow yearly or is this just a freak of nature?
Watertown, NY = 103"
Mexico, NY = 113"
Oswego, NY = 142"
So basically, this storm may wind up dumping a years worth of snow on many locations. That is pretty impressive!
Here is an MSNBC article about the storm: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17063535/
^^When this was written, Mexico, NY already had 8 feet on the ground (96"). If they get another 4 feet (as expected), then their total may top 140"! That would be 27"+ over their yearly average in just one storm!

what a difference between one side of the lake and the other. SOO much snow down there, yet Toronto, though bone-chilling cold has seen nothing more than flurries and snowshowers at times during this whole period and truthfully, not much snow on the ground in the city at all. There is some, but not a whole lot.
