Parts of Oswego County are now reporting over 120 inches of snow from this storm, with NWS saying that an additional 3-4 feet are possible before the weekend is over.

Wow this is amazing. I know they are used to getting a lot of snow, but this is likely once every 50 year event. They say we will see bigger events and this could be one.

I bet alot of them are going "Where the helk is global warming?! We are supposed to be getting warmer with less snow...what happend?" I hope it stops, 10 feet is too much, but with another several feet coming this weekend? I'm afraid the death toll is going to start rising (has anyone died so far?) and property damage is to, as roofs start collapsing...

10 feet is amazing! And another 4 feet may still fall? That kind of snow total is unheard of! Imagine how long it will take to melt all that...

Could a new glacier forming?  lol.

Nah, Ontario doesn't freeze up. Only Lake Erie would be frozen, thus this storm still would have happened.

Southern Ontario around Georgian Bay have received as much as 6 feet of snow too from the same system. There is even grocery stores running out of food because shipments can't get in.

Wow! I just saw on MSNBC that the "snow dump" in Oswego, NY (where they are dumping loads of snow) could grow to be 75-feet tall by the time it is all said and done and it may not melt until AUGUST!

May be my "new glacier" statement wasn't too far off after all. lol.

75 feet sounds reasonable..heck over 10 has fallen. I have seen snow piles in parking lots over 30' and that's without a conveyor belt to lift it or a drop off to dump it.. That is going to take sometime to melt completely.. I see a radio contest on what day it vanishes.

Positive. I just saw it again too. They said last year it only reached 24.5 feet, but that this year it should at least triple that.

Amazing situation for sure.

Owen Sound Sun Times - Georgian Bay/northern Lake Huron

Nowhere to go; Road closures left area isolated
Local News - Saturday, February 10, 2007 @ 08:00

Virtually all highways and county roads in Bruce and Grey counties were closed overnight Thursday, making it impossible to get out of Owen Sound, Kincardine and other communities.

Highway 21, running parallel to the Lake Huron shoreline, has been buried by snow all week.

The road had been closed from Southampton to Port Albert, but sections have since been reopened. As of 6 p.m. Friday, the section of highway between Port Elgin and Kincardine remained closed due to nil visibility.

As of late Friday afternoon, Grey Road 124 from Singhampton to Shelburne and Bruce County Road 23 from Bruce roads 15 to 20 were also off limits to drivers.

Numerous schools in the region were closed, and for most that were open, there was no school bus service. That included no buses to all Owen Sound schools.

The region has received more than a metre of snow since Sunday.

100 feet of snow has enough weight to start forming a glacier. Thats if its compacted its self enough.
