Been gettin' POUNDED

#1 Postby azsnowman » Wed Jan 31, 2007 6:39 pm

HOLY CRAP.....whatta DAY  I was in my crime lab 99.98% of the day, stepped outside to get away from the chemical fumes ONCE (at 0945 this morning) and I was back in the lab for the rest of the entire day and I just got home about 1/2 hour and GESUS  Not quite sure how snow we have but the "Mystery Machine" (that's what everyone calls my CSI van  ) had a TOUGH time navigating the road home...I'd say we have somewhere between 12-15" here at the house AND...there's a lot MORE on the way

http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/fgz

.DISCUSSION...MODERATE RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS ARE CONTINUING ACROSS THE NORTHLAND THIS AFTERNOON...WITH THE MAJORITY OF THE HEAVIER ACTIVITY EAST OF A LINE FROM PAGE THROUGH FLAGSTAFF TO CAMP VERDE. ACCUMULATION THREAT HAS CERTAINLY NOT PASSED YET...WITH A COLD FRONT STILL DIPPING SOUTH THROUGH NORTHERN ARIZONA. THE AIRMASS IS UNSTABLE ENOUGH THAT A FEW OF THE SHOWERS THIS AFTERNOON HAVE PRODUCED LIGHTNING. IN ADDITION TO THE COLD FRONT...AN UPPER LEVEL OPEN WAVE WILL CONTINUE MOVING EAST ACROSS THE STATE TONIGHT. CURRENT ADVISORY APPEARS ON TRACK...THOUGH POTENTIAL FOR HEAVY SNOWS MAY LAST LATER IN THE NIGHT...ESPECIALLY FOR THE WHITE MOUNTAINS. AFTER TONIGHT...WEAK SHORTWAVES WORKING THROUGH A BROAD UNITED STATES TROUGH WILL KEEP A CHANCE FOR PRECIP IN THE FORECAST FROM THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY...BUT THE MAIN SNOW ACCUMULATION POTENTIAL IS ANTICIPATED TO HAVE ENDED BY THAT POINT

Add another 10" to my total tonight....I should wake up to 22" in the morning and THIS "WILL" put me at NORMAL for the season...it's been 11 YEARS since I've been at normal :ggreen: In FACT...it's been SO long since I've seen normal, ALL this snow is *KINDA* getting to be a PAIN in the butt :ggreen:

Sure wished we could pick up that kind of snow here in Hickory, North Carolina were I live. Yeah I know there is a system headed my way but we are only forecasted to get 3" to 4" of snow which I guess I can't be mad about that since I have seen that much here since 2002 so I hope we do get it.

As I said...this is FIRST normal winter in OVER 11 "YEARS"! I mean, 11 YEARS of 2-4" snows for the ENTIRE winter when I'm used to 132"+...needless to say, we are EXTACTIC about it but like I said too, it's been so LONG since we've had a normal winter it's REALLY a challenge...just ask ALL of the NEWBIES from CALIFORNIA who have moved here...I've NEVER heard SO much WHINNING and COMPLAINING, I just smile and say, "Maam, this is NORMAL!"

I REALLY hate to say this BUT...........................

"ENOUGH!" :ggreen:

For a little awhile anyways :ggreen: We need a break to shovel out, bring wood in the house, fill up the woodbox, shovel (blow) the driveways and THEN it can start again!

GESUS....another 5" to the already 18" on the ground with blowing and drifting, wind chill never got above 10°F ALL DAY....that's IT, ENOUGH for a day or two :ggreen:

I feel your pain Brother, I feel your pain, I know y'all have been very dry too  I really wasn't complaining, YES I was too dang it  I'm really not SICK of the snow, we just need a 2-3 day break so we can get caught up on some outside work = bring WOOD in the HOUSE  The wood pile is at the back of the property (1 acre) and the house is near the front and the pile's under a 4 FOOT drift (covered up of course with a tarp). Once I get wood on the porch, the driveways blown out and a coupla of other little chores then BRING it ON!!!

BTW....the new total for this system is a whopping 25" at the house here, giving me a total of 82" since November...gettin' CLOSE to being ABOVE average! A VERY wet monsoon (22" at the house) and now 82" of snow in 3 months, tain't TOO shaby but what I'm REALLY afraid of, the 07' Monsoon season will be a dry one, usually is after a wet winter like this! All this moisture we should have ONE heckuva spring = fast growing grasses and with the spring winds = dry = a killer wildfire season.
