From the weekend forecasts, it looks like old man winter is still not finished with us yet. This could be a rerun from last week, although the panhandle areas seem to be the lucky areas this weekend. We North Texans wanna see a little less freezing rain and a little more snow.

It's 30° - why would I be getting just light rain? I'm sure the temp is correct - there are also many KFDM Instaweather stations reporting below freezing tempeatures in Beaumont and surrounding areas.

LOL I did post a link to like 10 pics I took earlier today :)

It's too cold and dark and slippery to go out now, but I'll be taking pictures of the tree limbs that fell in our back yard. I took some pics from our back window (the patio was too icy to walk on) but they aren't very good. I might post one anyway if anyone is interested.

Observations at the airport indicate 35 degrees. Wx Underground sites have 34-35 degrees around BPT. Perhaps your thermometer is a few degrees off?

I'm going by this Weatherbug thing which says 29 here in Beaumont now. Please tell me that's not right -- I'd love to thin it was 35

Freezing rain about to move back in...

I already have a good 0.05-0.10" so far and this next round will only add to that further.

I don't live anywhere near the airport. The airport isn't even in Beaumont, but much closer to Port Arthur, although everyone assumes it's Beaumont because that's our "official" reporting station. I'm actually between Beaumont and Lumberton. Here are the closest Instaweather stations to me:

http://www.kfdm.com/sections/weather/instaweather/ - 29°

http://www.kfdm.com/sections/weather/instaweather/ - 30°

and there are others in the area reporting 29° - 32° so I feel confident the temperature is correct.

Here's the whole list...all of the ones in Beaumont are below freezing. http://www.kfdm.com/sections/weather/instaweather/

I have ice mainly on elevated objects, the cars, and some bed plants. It's still mostly wet on southern elevations. We need another degree or two here I think for things to really freeze solid, but it's getting there. The trees are indeed icy though...

Mild rain now -- I can hear it hitting my window A/C.

No need to go out and check it -- 1) I know we're above 32° here so it's not ice and B) there's no way in heck I'm letting any cold air in or warm air out while I've got little space heaters doing their best to warm my place up above what it is outside. It was 58° about an hour or so ago. Just got a hot shower and bundled up in my jammies and now the thermometer says in my living room says 62° (oooh, a whole 4° increase!)

more obs of 33 showing up in the Pasadena area. FOX26 suspects the freeze line will extend south to DT and thats it. Not sure what they are seeing. Even Angelton seeing 33 attm. Really bite if I don't make it to 32. Any thoughts?

large rocks are starting to now freeze up with a coating of ice. This is the first time this has happened tonight. Most of the "ground" has only been wet...until now (the grass is also icy).

Well, the only logical conclusion is that you have some hybrid/mutant raindrops there in Beaumont that resist freezing at temperatures that would freeze a normal raindrop. ;-)

Ok, off to bed. Enjoy your ice everyone. I like mine in my freezer.
