CIVIL EMERGENCY MESSAGE
OKLAHOMA DEPARTMENT OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
RELAYED BY NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TULSA OK
1233 PM CST TUE JAN 16 2007

THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE IS TRANSMITTED AT THE REQUEST OF THE
OKLAHOMA DEPARTMENT OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT.

PERSONS TRAVELING INTO AND THROUGH EASTERN OKLAHOMA ARE ADVISED TO
ENSURE THEY HAVE ALL NECESSITIES TAKEN CARE OF BEFORE THEY REACH
THE HARDEST HIT AREAS OF THIS PAST WEEKEND`S ICE STORM. WIDESPREAD
POWER OUTAGES CONTINUE ACROSS MUSKOGEE...MCINTOSH...MAYES AND
PITTSBURG COUNTIES. SERVICES THAT TRAVELERS MAY DESIRE...SUCH AS
GASOLINE...WILL BE VERY LIMITED IF NOT TOTALLY UNAVAILABLE FOR
LONG DISTANCES IN THESE COUNTIES. TRAVELERS WHO BECOME STRANDED
IN THESE AREAS WILL ONLY COMPLICATE THE ONGOING RECOVERY EFFORTS.
PLEASE DO YOUR PART TO HELP THESE COMMUNITIES RECOVER FROM THE
DEVASTATING ICE STORM.

It is a mess... that is the best I can say. Maybe I can sum this up best by telling you that our Walmart Supercenter has been closed for the past 2 days. There is no gas for 100 miles and many cars are sitting on empty. Powerlines are down, the cable is out, and lord only knows why I am one of a handful who even have internet.

I am so glad to see that you're safe, Garrett! I've been seeing the pictures
out there from tv stations, and, this storm is just so awesome! Good grief -
Walmart is closed? That speaks for itself, doesn't it? :wink:

Things are slowly getting back to normal. Schools are out here until Monday. Even the university is, which is historic. Walmart opened back up yesterday morning@ 7. We go in and out of power though and will for a couple more days... just in time for some snow. :roll:
