I don't know if I should have the fight and put my foot down and have her leave Sat. night ? Any suggestions....?? probably I'll just have to watch tomorrow sheesh why does it have to come next week????!!!! grrrrrrr

I don't know about that gang ... suggesting DFW frontal passage late tonight might be a bit too fast.

Really? Ya think? Man, that would be awful for a lot of us ... because it would mean the bulk of the falling precip will be freezing rain and sleet.

I say DFW frontal passage around 12 noon Friday.

On another note ... the 18z NAM is coming in now and you can see it on the Penn State e-wall site. It's looking quite wet for Sunday. Should that verify ... y'all know what that means ...

Don't see how it gets that far (Dallas) -- Tx panhandle by late this evening, early am hours.

Regardless, things are not looking good for NTX, and concern is beginning to mount for Central Tx.

I feel differently than those cheering this one along. This is the kind of front that brings a lot more misery than joy IMO....unless you like traffic accidents, power outages, devastated vegetation, a rush on supplies, trips to the emergency room, etc. - gee what fun...OH I just can't wait to try and drive between The Woodlands and the Med Center on ice

Locals here are talking about the front arriving sometime Sunday or even Monday. Somehow, I think they're gonna be way off.

Some locals are saying frozen precip is possible Monday night and Tuesday, that's assuming the front gets here later than it apprently will. How does the faster progression of the front affect the precip, or does it?

Who's cheering it along? I think most of us have stated before that we don't want a crippling ice storm.

NAM 18z also appears to be showing a friday night/saturday morning frontal arrival time. It also shows that the cold air takes awhile to filter into North Texas. On the NAM forecast soundings, it appears that it is still hovering close (but above feezing) at 63 hours (or Sunday morning). This is possibly unrealistically warm given what I seen of the surface plots up north. (This is from a pay weather model site (wright-weather), so it may be a little different from NCEP NAM run).

BTW, San Angelo has issued a WSW for the counties that border the DFW CWA eastern counties.

This is the best voyeurism ever-- I'm new here-- my son wants a final road trip to Hardin Simmons in Abilene tomorrow, returning Monday-- would you send a knight out on a horse like this? I'm still paying the car note and I really like him personally-- thank you for your wonderful insights :D !

I have a feeling that DFW will go ahead an issue a WSW or WWW for their entire area..

This is from the WSW that was issued for that area.. In a nutshell, keep him at home.

RIGHT NOW...IT LOOKS LIKE THE SWITCHOVER TO FREEZING PRECIPITATION
MAY OCCUR AS EARLY AS LATE FRIDAY NIGHT ACROSS THE NORTHERN BIG
COUNTRY...HASKELL AND THROCKMORTON COUNTIES. FARTHER SOUTH DOWN TO
THE INTERSTATE 20 CORRIDOR...INCLUDING ABILENE AND SWEETWATER
...THIS CHANGEOVER IS EXPECTED TO OCCUR DURING THE DAYLIGHT HOURS
ON SATURDAY. PERIODS OF FREEZING RAIN AND DRIZZLE WILL THEN CONTINUE
THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT AND INTO SUNDAY.

ICE ACCUMULATIONS REMAIN UNCERTAIN AT THIS POINT. HOWEVER...THERE
IS A POTENTIAL FOR ACCUMULATIONS OF GREATER THAN ONE QUARTER INCH
IN SOME LOCATIONS. REMEMBER...EVEN SMALL ACCUMULATIONS OF WELL
LESS THAN ONE QUARTER INCH MAY CAUSE SIGNIFICANT TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES.

A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT
SNOW...SLEET...OR ICE ACCUMULATIONS THAT MAY IMPACT TRAVEL.
CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS.

I'd be surprised if they issue either for the entire area. I could see them issuing one along a Denton/Ft. Worth/Cleburne line. Now maybe a WWA for the entire CWA I could see.

Boise City OK, is at 33 degrees which is in the OK Panhandle, that's a 30+rop over the past hr.

If front was around Denver at 9am and now in OK Panhandle that's 6 to 7 hrs based on distance that whould put front into NTX area in the 10 to Midnight time frame.

At current pace of course. :D
