I would not put too much thought into that forecast. The GFS continues to show the arctic blast coming in around Christmas, and DonSoutherland mentioned about some cold air coming into the U.S. around Christmas. There are many other signs pointing to a rather cold and wet winter for the South along with a weak to moderate El Nino. Of course, I could be wrong about all of this, but the evidence seems to point toward some cold air coming south around the 23 per the GFS. It still show an arctic high over Canada with cold air surging southward.
