I know it's like there's a imaginary line that cuts from daytona beach down to tampa and that seperates ANY cold air. Ocal could be 30 and well be 60. NW Florida is really cold. Don't they see snow flying often there? Snow flakes not accumulating snow. Were at 79 right now. pretty much the warmest in the country except miami.

We see some sleet occasionally every winter, but it's been a while since we've seen some snow flakes.During Christmas night in 2004 we had accumulating sleet.Stratusxpeye wrote:I know it's like there's a imaginary line that cuts from daytona beach down to tampa and that seperates ANY cold air. btw, they bumped that forecast of 19 degrees to 23.Still we usually don't see low 20's until late Dec/early Jan.

Stratusxpeye that line continues to move south as we head into Jan - March.....you pretty much need to be on a line from about Port St Lucie on the East cost to Ft Myers on the west coast to have nice mild winters all winter long. The vegetation tells the story. How many Royal Palms and coconut palms do you see growing north of this line.....not many.
Tampa was too cold for me so I moved farther south

I have to disagree with you there, i've lived here for 3 years and we were cold for maybe a few weeks each year but mostly warm.

Those last three years have been fairly warm though. On Colder winters, hard freezes can occur even into central Florida and in such years as 1899, 1983 and 1989; temperatures into the teens are not unheard of.fact789 wrote:gatorcane wrote:Stratusxpeye that line continues to move south as we head into Jan - March.....you pretty much need to be on a line from about Port St Lucie on the East cost to Ft Myers on the west coast to have nice mild winters all winter long. Yes we have about 2 weeks of harsh winter weather where temps are in 30's or lower. You are correct the coconut palm trees and gorgeus royal palm lines is just south of sarasota. Wish we ha dem here
Dunno if I'd consider this cold though
I moved from buffalo new york
So far this winter though were still in the mid - low 80's
I hope it stays this way.
