KC Snowstorm

#1 Postby simplykristi » Thu Nov 30, 2006 5:57 pm

WOW Talk about a city divided by no snow and copious amounts of snow. Up by the airport it is not snowing. Here at my house (30 miles SE of the airport), it is snowing like crazy! We are expected to get up to 12 inches or more here in my area. It's been snowing here since arouind 2 PM. I have not taken a measurement out on the deck in over an hour. I will do that soon.

i can see the change on the radar representation, as far as the sharp cutoff goes, looks like u are on the lucky side (or unlucky ) if u don't like snow

it appears to me, and i am only an amateur that the cold air to the north is well established and the associated low appears to be moving more east north east instead of northeast and the heavier snow may shift east to include indianapolis and larger areas of ohio and maybe nw NY too

Hey Kristi! Good to see you.

We wound up with 1/2" of ice, 2" of sleet, and 4" of snow. Quite a wild (and powerless) last few days!

Hey Garrett,
You got a lot of ice and sleet down there. I think that we had around six inches here,

This cold arctic air is no fun. The snow and ice look pretty but we lost a lot of limbs out of the tree in the front yard. We were lucky though. The neighbors lost a whole tree!

Hi Garrett,
Glad that you are safe!

That reminds me so much of the huge ice storm here in late Jan. 2002. I can't believe it has been nearly five years ago.

St. Louis got the one-two punch too... An ice storm and then two to six inches of snow.

Our chihuahuas hate cold and snow. We have to shovel paths for them.

I remember that one as I was living in Sedalia at the time and watched that unfold on KCTV. This one wasn't as bad. If it was, I would still be without power.

Keep an eye on mid-to-late week next week for another system to come our way. Too early to tell how strong it will be, but it bears watching. :)

That's true but still Springfield and St. Louis have/had power outages. KCP&L sent people and crews. I remember a crew from Arkansas who turned our power back on in 2002// just in time for the kickoff of the Super Bowl game.

It looks like a non-event for us. Perhaps it is taking a more southern route.
