they are getting flurries in Orlando right now, so I would say that yes it is very likely they will see them in north FLA too. Crazy night for Floridians..

Snow flurries are rare in Florida, but, for it to occur before Thanksgiving is really wild. The weather is out of whack and patterns are bringing cold air very far South..you have to wonder if nature made a change before hurricane season and many forecasters missed out on the fact?!?!

I don't want to sound arrogant but I predicted a very cold winter. The long wave pattern is unchanged since this summer where we saw huge troughs diving down as far south as South Florida in August! You wonder why no tropical activity could make it west of 60W....now we see why!

We still have December - Feb. to go folks and long-range models (e.g. the GFS) is showing a possible arctic blast setting up for the East CONUS sometime around Dec 1st.

I knew it, I just knew it.

It will probably be very hard to capture any footage of the snow especially if it's mixed in with rain. These are just tiny little flurries, not those huge flakes they get up north.

True, but sometimes they are not really snow flurries, but they look like it. If you look hard at a light rain you can almost imagine them but they are not there....

So give me the proof! (no just kidding I do believe it I guess)

Is it really Nov 20th or Jan 20th?

Bob Breck said last week, passingly, but, with a wink, on Fox 8 in New Orleans, that we need to start thinking about protecting plants, pets, and even pipes (which means 6 or more hours below 25F), in New Orleans for early December. I had to look at the TV twice, and I called my Mother, who I knew was watching the same channel b/c I had just talked to her, and I asked, "Did he just mention a hard freeze for New Orleans in two weeks or so?" And my Mom said, "I think, so, Sean!" I thought it was a rather gutsy call, but, who knows, he's the weatherman, and he may be seeing something.

The source is the cold air aloft which is being brought down to the SFC due to dynamical cooling of the layer which occurs during the precipitation falls ...

This is what happened today in South Carolina and Georgia today and during the 4 hour period the deformation band was so intense that it allowed the snowfall to accumulate despite ground temperatures being so warm and temperatures slightly above freezing ... the magic of dynamical cooling ...

Overall, it was a pretty awesome event. It was funny as heck, being from the northeast, to hear people calling news stations asking if school was going to close... :)

We did have a quick episode of thundersnow, which was pretty awesome.

Here's a small youtube.com video..
