is this possible for coastal storm

first mods this is a mixture of -removed- some snow in fl, but also the distinct questioning if it is possible.

say this storm develops just a bit further south than forecat and strengthens just a lil bit more than forecat both possibilities

i.e exiting of the s.c coast and strenthening rapidly as it digs in and temporarily dives ESE to a position just N of the northern bahamas

the current forecast tue nite calls for temps 39-40 with a 20 % chance of rain showers which is almost unheard in wellington fl (west of palm beach) ok so here is my wish

a strong storm drifting nne just n or the bahamas tuesday afternoon with partly cloudy temps in the evening allowing temps to fall into the mid 30's tuesday nite and a few showers/ developing squalls develop over gulf stream and rotate inland around the large circulation of a massive coastal storm and yes fall as Snow in interior south central florida tue nite. with a dusting to an inch falling in the heavier squalls before melting shortly thereafter

and i know i am -removed- but i also believe it is possible. i mean just because we only have data going back about 125 years doesn't mean that 200 or 1000 years ago it has yet to snowed more signifigantly in florida.

39-40F just isn't likely cold enough for south Florida to get snow, especially since there is only a 20% chance of precipitation. May be if this was December or January it would be possible, but for November it is probably a one in a billion shot. This airmass is cold, but not cold enough for snow quite yet. You need to remember that snow in south Florida is extremely rare and doesn't happen all the time, so the chance of it happening outside of the winter season is next to impossible.

I think if any place is to see a few flakes...it would be far north Florida, but even there I do not expect anyone to recieve even a dusting, let alone a whole inch.

With that all said, I do think it is possible for a few places in central and south Florida (the areas that see precip. when the temp. is in the 30s or low 40s) to see a sleet pellet or two mixed in with the heaviest rains (like I saw in Houston last year at 45F), but no serious winter event should take place.

A forecast in the mid 30s with rain is very rare for interior south Florida.

latest south Florida NWS update scrathes precip. from the forecast Tuesday night. Looks like the chance of any type of winter precip. is now virtually nil.

If a similar pattern continues, however, then I wouldn't be surprised to see an event that invloves a little sleet/snow for portions of Florida at some point this winter.

SFC temperatures expected to be too warm for any significant wintry precip at this time in the lower elevations .... although were this to be January, with model thickness schemes and 850mb temperatures, would clearly support such an event. CLIMO got us on this one WRT to wintry precip.

I did see earlier that there were a few locations in north FLA forecasting a "20% chance of rain or snow" for Monday night. Just the fact that SOMEWHERE in FLA may get snowflakes in November is amazing.

It is rare to see a forecast like that in January...let alone November. I will be absolutely amazed if this really does happen.

Yes, I know. it is strange though because it shows the same exact temperature, there is still precip. forecasted, and the models have not changed..so I guess the only reason they quickly changed the forecast to just "rain" is because they don't want to shock people just yet.

They will probably mention winter precip. again tomorrow if everything stays the same though (since that is what many north FLA area discussions indicate could happen...a mix).

Yeah that was in the pinpoint/grid forecast and on the national forecast map earlier but not the zone forecast for the county. Earlier, the forecast map showed snow from near Lake city, Fla up to around Valdosta, Ga but now its all just rain.I guess they said oops and took it out of the forecast/map.
