I thought Jerry was going to die since the actor has a new show on another network. I guess there's still time. Maybe he doesn't fully recover from his wounds. Of course, we do know who died, don't we? *evil grin* (Not saying in case someone hasn't or didn't watch. It was a shocker!

Did anyone watch last week's premiere or were you too caught up in the Grey's Anatomy drama? My best friend's cell rang just as GA ended and we switched over to ER. She noticed it was a friend of hers from Dallas and so she yells into the phone (with a smile, of course), "Are you crazy? Hello? Must-see-TV! ER season premiere! Call me back later!" Of course, right on cue, she called back as ER ended.

Same as you, I thought for certain Jerry was going to die. I've caught his scenes on Men in Trees. Guess we can safely say the cast member who was supposed to die was Sam's ex? If so, that's a cheap shot. I don't consider him a regular! After Jerry made it I thought the baby was next. And the little guy pulled thru, so far.
I still watch ER, not always live but I can't give up on it. If not on Thursday nights, definitely by Friday night. That loyalty thing, ya know.
I've watched from day one. Heard the ratings were higher than expected also - read that snipnet on the TV Guide website (which is all new now, I'm still trying to find my way around it). Maybe there's a whole new flock of ER fans? Stranger things have happened.
Sounds as if your friend is loyal too Shawn! he he I will not give up on this show even though I will ~always, always~ miss Mark Greene. It's surprising the show has lasted this long. He was the rock and core of that show. Which is saying something for the other actors. They filled in nicely but no one can ever fill his shoes, IMHO.

Two reasons:
Grey's Anatomy now airs on Thursdays(I've heard from a LOT of people that they will watch Grey's then watch ER).
Without a Trace has moved out of the timeslot and both CBS and ABC's new shows aren't as strong.
ER will probably win the hour again tonight(but down from last week since last week was a much-hyped season premiere), just edging Shark on CBS.

Miss Mary is hitting that Duck over the head now.....LOL Why thank you Duckie! I was thinking it was either Medical Center, or Marcus Welby. he he I remember back in 1975, a coworker just drooling over Chad Everett. Meanwhile, I'm not even sure who I was drooling over, quite possibly John Travolta (that white suit, ya know,
) and I was thinking - Chad who? LOL
Back then I was vaguely into Medical dramas. It wasn't until the very best one of all of them - IMHO - and that title would have to go to St. Elsewhere, came along that I sat up and really took notice of medical type shows. In case anyone is wondering what I'm talking about, especially the younger members, if you ever can see this show in reruns, watch it - cutting edge for the time period! Very similar to Grey's Anatomy I'm told:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083483/
I guess I traded the Travolta white dance disco suit for the lab coat! LOL My St. E. faves were Fiscus (the bald Deal or No Deal Howie Mandel host now, eeeek!) and Morrison/Boomer (actor David Morse).
Back to the ER discussion at hand!

Surprising, positive TV news, for once. This time about ER! Sometimes I have to remind myself this show had an almost, completely different cast, at one time!
Sigh.....now if only they'd be smart and do this with say, LOST! Ugh.....

Thriving ER Can Breathe Easy — Hiatus Nixed
Due to its impressive ratings performance against newbies Shark and Six Degrees — falling just shy of the top spot when it doesn't outright claim it — NBC's ER won't be put on midseason hiatus as originally planned. "ER is not going away until the spring," NBC Entertainment prez Kevin Reilly tells the New York Times.
So rather that sit the 13-year-old medical drama from January to April, to turn over its time slot to The Black Donnellys, "We are going to keep ER [where it is] for at least 22 episodes," says Reilly. NBC may, in fact, even extend ER's production schedule to 24 or 25 new outings this season. We are so going to need more suction.

I had to peek in here even though I haven't watched it yet. I don't like this bald guy either. Definitely Romano wannabe - you said it Duckie. Romano would tell him - oh buddy, you're too nice! I've seen that actor somewhere before.....
Cates is growing on me. I've even forgotten all about JS's Full House days.....he's a good actor.
I'll watch it later today and comment then.
Till then......

Duckie - I finally watched it. I have Cates name wrong - it's Gates. Oops.
I'm torn on the trial. You want Kovac to get off but then you feel for the stroke victim (since we have a disabled family member pretty much in the same situation). Is it true a patient can be cared for in the ER for 3 days? 3 whole days? That was a shock.
Good episode. I was hoping Abby would have put that nasty head surgical doc in his place. I was confused on why the patient awaiting surgery went up in flames though.

I also did not really know why the patient went into flames either!
The Head surgery guy is being set up for a fall and we will all hate him so much when it happens that it will be fun.
He is Rocket Romano Lite however as Romano is hard to match!!!
They never should have had him disintegrate like he did with the arm and then the helicopter. He was so dispicable you hate to hate and love him.
This new guy is just obnoxious.

In the words of Forrest Gump -- "It happens."
No, seriously, there are a lot of things that can contribute to surgical fires -- laser scalpels, alcohol-based skin preps, oxygen, and towels or gauze sponges on the sterile field can make for a heck of a combustion. Doesn't it take three things to make a fire -- an ignition source, oxygen, and fuel? Most of the time, I think they try to keep towels and sponges wet as well as ensuring that O2 is not leaking from the intubation. I don't know all the details, but we're experiencing the wonders *woohoo!
Speaking of that, I need to hop on into bed and get a good night's sleep. Tomorrow's my fourth 12-hour shift in a row and my last day for this week. They only visited our floor once (Monday) and we're waiting for the return (if it doesn't happen on night shift). Gotta get some rest and be on my toes. Eighteen years working in a hospital and I've only been questioned by a JCAHO surveyor once -- "What do you do if you answer the phone and receive a bomb threat?" I'm sure my luck is bound to run out soon...I'll probably get a question tomorrow.
Gee, go off-topic much, Duckie?
