WPAC Typhoon 07W

PRESENT WIND DISTRIBUTION:
MAX SUSTAINED WINDS - 090 KT, GUSTS 110 KT

LOCATED APPROXIMATELY 265 NM SOUTHWEST OF NAHA, OKINAWA, HAS TRACKED NORTHWARD AT 15 KNOTS DURING THE PAST 06 HOURS. TY 07W HAS INTENSIFIED IN THE PAST 6 HOURS WITH A WELL-DEFINED 12 NM DIAMETER EYE. RECENT ANIMATED ENHANCED INFRARED SATELLITE IMAGERY REVEALS THAT DEEP CYCLING CONVECTION IS LOCATED PRIMARILY OVER THE EASTERN AND SOUTHERN QUADRANTS.

Hurricanes can be absolutely riveting and scary, but TYPHOONS?? I have a friend who was stationed in Okinawa during a Typhoon and when he tried to describe it he said it makes a strong hurricane look like a breeze on a summer day! I couldn't even imagine! Anyone here been through a typhoon?
