Sure hope some of Gordons surface winds detach from the upper level circulation as he loses his tropical characteristics.

I dont think we will see much weakening, if any before reaching the Azores

I explain it in a new Gordon forecast I am finishing, but it does not look that good for the Azores

and here we all thought Gordon would end up as a fish... Mr 1100 deaths and no retirement will not go away that easily...

I was thinking the same thing, how many people thought that Gordon was going to be a fish for sure? Almost everyone if not everyone. Massive amounts of crow will be needed.

he's holding together very well... he is starting to fade into the abbient cloud cover but his circulation is remaining compact and he doesn't have any extratropical characteristics at the moment.

In fact, the 5PM advisory discussion says Gordon still has a closed eyewall.

70kts pressure up to 980mb. Also now moving just south of east again. I noticed the 18z GFDL took it the center south of Sao Miguel tonight.

I'm not so sure about that. There is no sign of extratropical transition at this point, so I would give it about a 20-30% chance of making it to mainland Europe as a hurricane or tropical storm.

That is just my view, though.

Lets see how fast Gordon can move. I'v seen them move 40-50 mph! I heard the 1938 hurricane was moving at 60 to 70 mph. Lets lite a fire under gordon!

He looks very disorganized on latest satellite images and he looks like he starting to lose tropical characteristics too. Dr. Lyons on TWC also thought the same a few mins ago.
