It is amazing to see how the climate manages our planet . For us, it's as simple as adjusting a thermostat. Perhaps with all the heat transfer from last season, the climate may be doing the same. I am ok with that. It has been a pretty tough couple of years.

I'm okay with that, too - since April, many here were worried at what might form this season, but, we are now very happy for the unexpected lull in activity.
Many (many) here are finally able to finish roof repairs from Wilma (not to mention Frances and Jeanne), and, building supplies are a bit easier to come by, though still not as plentiful as they were prior to 2004.
I can't tell you how many here were almost distraught when it first appeared that TS Chris or Ernesto might threaten South Florida as major hurricanes - perhaps it's because some who post here live far from the ocean, but, it seems that some don't realize just how stressful it is to go through something like that, not only one time, but, again and again, never being sure exactly what will happen.
As I've told others here, I enjoy weather, otherwise I wouldn't have worked in the field, or to be on sites like this, but, there's a line not to cross - especially when it comes to destructive weather.
Finally, just the other day, one of the Skywarn Tornado Spotters said the same thing - he enjoys seeing a tornado in a field, but, not one that is crossing a community.

Yes Frank. Good post. I am a Skywarn guy also. Weather fascinates me more than anything. I used to say "bring it on" just because in my own selfish way, I wanted to experience the phenomena. Well, things have changed. Charley and Wilma have humbled me. Hurricanes will never drive me from S. Fl. but, I used to say, death and taxes were certain, now hurricanes have been added to the list. I will continue to be fascinated by them but now I respect them as well. And I can never wish a significant storm on anyone, anymore. Here's to a calm season!
