The plane is at over 25,000 ft. above Georgia!. Nowhere near this disturbance, and nowhere near water, in fact. This is just a frontal wave. No tropical development is likely. It will develop along the cold front, however.

The plane is actually over Georgia. Nowhere near the system yet.

They were at higher altitude then.

The system actually does look better organzied on satellite imagery today than it did earlier.

From this, it LOOKS like they found a vortex at 5000 feet, then started dropping down to a lower altitude.

It appears to be already attached to the cold front, which lies just offshore North Carolina. Will be interesting to see if the NHC now names a frontal low a TD or TS, as they ignored the "frontal low" offshore Nova Scotia that had no front in the area.

Here's a surface analysis I made using GARP and hand-drawing the front.

So far the winds measured by the RECON are not even enough to upgrade it to an intense thunderstorm, much less a cyclone!!!!

I don't believe they are near the center. The low appears to be much further southwest where they flying.
