Seems to be persistent convection...

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

That is a tropical wave that is embedded in the ITCZ that has flared up but as always only a flare up is not sufficient but we need to see 24-48 hours of persistance of convection and then we have to see if there is a low trying to spin. But so far no circulation on it however the storm2k forecasters as always are watching it and we will keep the members informed about this wave and any other disturbance in the atlantic basin.

Thanks. It seems to have persisted for the last 6 hours or so I believe. Thanks for the quick response. :)

The convection associated with the tropical wave is deep and widespread, but it's in the midst of a strong 50KT westerly shear zone. The convection may (and probably will) persist, but the shear will prevent anything from consolidating.

You are right Luis. I still have a lot to learn, but I am glad that I am able to ask questions here and not be made to feel stupid.
