the number of hurricanes is what is used to determine if a season is above or below average

thanks for all of the an analysis and input. I think Dr. Gray should continue his research so that hopefully one day we can make better predictions....

Yes it would be above average. But todays update says that Klotzbach and Gray believe that the overall NTC for 2006 will be about 10% lower then average even with the two extra named storms. If correct of course. This is what they like to look at. People around here tend to call this ACE.
