major street flooding here in greenville...lots of rain some places on doplar saw 10 inches close to my house.. i didnt get that much i dont think but tons of water everywhere.Lots of road closures and detours today.Wind at the airport only gusted to 45mph but i bet there were gusts higher than that as the biggest part of the core was over the south and east side of the county so they prolly had higher winds here..

Had to post a "No Wake Zone" sign in front of our house. Other than that nada. Lots of tourists got a mini thrill and lots of puddles to splash in. Hope they don't go home thinking they went through a hurricane.

24 HOUR PRECIPITAION ENDING 7 AM.

LOCATION NAME 24 HR

GRTN7 GRIFTON 9.85

Well, that explains my flash flood. I live about 5 miles downstream from the Grifton area. The water in my yard has receded away from my house, and is now I what I consider a 'normal' heavy thunderstom level. and it's not flowing as part of the stream anymore.

Tar River in Greenville is now at 10 feet. Rainfall at guage reads 7 inches for the past 24 hours at the river station. Significantly colder here now than it was earlier this morning. I'm guessing it's in the low 70's (Greenville Airport actually shows 69,) where it was in the upper 70's this morning and in the mid 90's Tuesday.

Just got power back here in my little corner of the world. We live on the banks of the New River which is up 4 or so feet and flowing like gangbusters. The max gust at the Air Station was 62 mph which is very close to where we live, so I guess that's about what we got. We had 2 huge oaks come down, one across the road and one across the widow lady's driveway. Lots of smaller ash and pine trees down here as well. So a day of chainsaws. Looking forward to the water heater warming me up a nice shower.

Drove up to Virginia beach Friday afternoon. Saw lots of lowland flooding up to Elizabeth City. heavy flooding there, numerous roads were closed, had to take some detours. Virginia Beach was very hard hit. Most of the area had between 8 and 10 inches. had to drive threw numerous flooded roads. Luckily I was in my 4Runner with its high clearence so I had no problems, saw many cars abandoned. My moms street saw its worst flooding ever with water half way up her driveway, it had receded some by the time I got there. Other than all of the full lakes around, there is now very little sign of the flooding today.
