It is not going to miss anything... it is going to hit the expensive resorts north of the Los Cabos and the town of San Jose (where the airport is).

So I wonder why this storm is missing the forecast points and gone a lot more east than expected?

Yeah, same thing I was wondering. I watched the satellite loop and the eye cleared shifted more to the east.

I'll post an updated image later. A new episode of the Simpsons (Series 13 I think) is on now which takes priority.

Is there a chance that John could continue more north-northwest and brush past the waters off San Diego-Los Angeles?

They blew the track on this. Looks like it will go over land over the spine of Baja.

A slow mover will linger and smash wherever it hits on the east tip of Baja.
