Sorry Met's We Asked For The Impossible
People,
I hope we all realize what we have here and that we have not permanently damaged a good thing. The ability to go one on one with pro-mets and get their opinions on up to the minute events is priceless. In the past we have asked them to step way out of the box and give us predictions 5-7-10 days out and then slammed them for being off. We will be lucky if our guy's give us anything more than "read the forecast" in the future. I am personally gratefull to AFM, Derek, WXMAN57, and KFDM. Please stick with us guys and forget the few that complained, because in the end you'll will forget more weather than they will ever know.

I'm not sure if people should get emotional over this type of stuff. I think everyone was frustrated by this storm, at times it seemed to have a mind completely of its own.
I don't even remember seeing 5-7-10 days request... this storm wasn't behaving in respects to short term or long term.
People just have to understand that even though those people above mentioned know a lot, it doesn't mean they know everything. There is no absolute source for 100% correct information. Just read and learn, easier that way to see what's coming

Very true.
Many of us "arm chair" amatuers (sp) are quick to render a verdict before the trial.
Most of us who follow this forum have nothing but respect for you guys and appreciate and rely on your information.
As we learn, of course some will challenge, but it is in the same way of kittens learning to hunt.
At the end of the day, it is awesome that you guys are here, and that all of us are able to freely exchange ideas, but when it gets down to it, ideas go out the window and it is the Pro Mets words that are final.

To have a place like this to go and learn about weather like this is a great, great thing. All of our PRO-Mets here we all should be lucky and consider ourselvse lucky to even have. Keep this in mind they don't have to be here at all. And i am sure they have much more pressing work to do. Yet they take the time to come and help us all understand. Bashing these people is total disrespect to them all. We are very lucky to have them. please show the the respect they so deserve. And please cut them some dang slack they are humans too and same gose to our Mods as well they work they tails off all the way through these storms to keep this site up and running smoothly. Please respect our Pro-Mets and our Mods. We all need them and this site. And if you can't theres other places you can go and be then here.. Hats of to the PRO-Mets and Mods

Bailey 1777 you hit it right on. I hope the pro-mets stay and realize how much we do appreciate them being here and taking the time out to give us opinions and forecasts about things. No forecast is 100% perfect and people need to remember that. Instead of bashing the promets I think it is time they receive a Big Thank You from all of us!

The pro-mets are awesome. I like the fact that I can learn and ask about weather when no one else I know would have an answer. It helped to be clued in that Ernesto was strengthening but also that it wasn't going to be a direct hit on me either without having to stay up super late and watch the news. No matter the time of day, I could find my answers here.
Thank you all!
Thank you all!

I read this forum because I like hurricanes. Period, point blank.
While I agree that the NHC is the only official place for hurricane news, I have found this site to be priceless when planning for a storm. I can usually find out before the local news or the Official NHC updates what is happening and can use that info to base decisions on. I would never advocate anyone disregarding the NHC and I won't do it myself, but it is nice to get a heads up "before" the NHC goes public.

I'd also like to extend my thanks to all of the pro mets, who take time out of their lives to help us out. I'm sure they have other things they'd rather do but they take the time to teach us. For that we should all be greatful.

Yea but I remember last year where Derek had Katrina pegged Days before the NHC did.Iget a heads up from this place, alittle more advance warning. As some have said at the NHC the models have really been lousy at times this year. The models do not seem to be doing that well with the ULLs and such and neither are we.I appreciate the knowledge being pass down,if I could only soak it up!

Agree with that. This storm was a real difficult one to forecast because land interactions, the Upper Lows, the continental trough causing the recurve to the north, that in the begginning was not forecast. The pro mets here did a great job under the circunstances.
