Good Morning...

Getting heavy, wind-driven rain from the south. I am estimating over 6" of rain in the last 48 hours. Occasional claps of thunder. Pressure here is 1007mb and falling.

My kids will wake up shortly to learn they have a four-day weekend.

The most annoying part of this... the frogs. They are so loud coming from the normally flooded empty lot next door... so loud. Imagine 50 Aflac ducks carrying bullhorns.

Stay safe...

Fairfield Harbour, New Bern, NC 5:45 am

Well time to rock & roll.... We are riding the east side of the eye as E moves to the NE

It is pretty wicked out there for a TS that made land fall this long ago. I really figured it would have died down some and am a little surprised. Winds are howling and blowing. Frequent gusts of high 30's to low 40's and rain is sideways. Our local police scanner is pretty busy with calls from alarms going off from the winds and a few trees on power-lines. To bad to try and go out for the little walk over to the harbor. Its not far but to many trees around that could blow off a branch and cause harm so staying put inside nice and safe. On a side note, we were having allot of thunder and lightning last night for about a half an hour. very unusual when we have tropical systems but it was a booming and flashing away for just that short period and then just stopped. go figure.

Well there is a high pressure system to the north of Ernesto and for the hampton roads area the pressure gradient is tightening, the winds are howling and the rain is flying!

Good Morning All!

Still breezy. We lost power some time last night, but everything is fine now. Close to hurricane strength last night but no cigar. Some small tree damage, shingles.

In a really intense squall line right now. My house is shaking. Daylight is appearing and I can tell already that our back yard is under water. We are canalfront.

Getting rough here. Winds picking up. Weatherman says sustained at about 40, higher gusts. Heavy rains; they're saying 2-3 inches per hour. We're expected 8-10 inches total. Power was off for several hours in the middle of the night. I'm amazed we have power now. Probably won't last - it appears the storm is going to come directly over us...but at least I got my morning coffee brewed!

45,000 homes without power in Southeastern VA and Northeastern NC... according to local news. This only includes Dominion power customers, not the local co-op customers.

Day light is startin to show up here. Ocean is very rough. Looks like there might be some 8' breakers out there, but cannot tell since I am on the 3rd floor of our house. We collected 4.5 inches of rain over the last 4 hours or so. We now have a storm total of 9.5 inches. Got more heavy rain heading our way. Going to be a pretty rough morning these parts. I am able to see the beach road this morning, and it is covered by water. Looks like 2 maybe 3 inches of water is covering the roadway. Going to get a few more pictures in a little while, once more day light comes in. I will post them once I get them off the camera.

Not much in terms of winds in Durham, just a whole lot of rain on and off all day. Actually I'm seeing the highest gusts all day right now, probably up to 30 MPH or so.

We are fully open. Don't know if you know where the Sea Ranch II hotel is...but we are staying in the house right next to it. Skies are real dark to our south right now, so I am expecting some more heavy rain and win pretty soon.
