Charleston (dowtown) floods during a heavy thunderstorm... I'd hate to be downtown right now, especially in a car or parked. I'm in West Ashely and it is rainy but I don't know of any flooding up my way. Thank God classes were canceled today!

Rain has slackened off a lot. More of a mist right now. Winds are very strong. We are sitting between 30 and 40 miles per hour right now...with an occasional gust of 45. Ocean swells are about 3 to 4 feet right now. The ocean is up to the first raised part right now. A lot of white caps out there. Shaping up to be very stormy night.

Tomb, where are you reporting from? You seem to be getting the worst of anyone posting on this board... and if you're in the storms path, good luck man... 45 mph is usually when power begins to go out.

Been raining pretty good all day and I noticed... no birds chirping, no chricketts ... very very quiet outside. My cats who usually want to be outside even in the rain are laying by the door looking out the window.

Fairfield Harbour, New Bern, NC 5:30 pm EST

In our safe place... no staying in the mobil home for me. (Yes Pebbles, we are now safe so you can stop worrying)

Light steady rain here now. Sky starting to get a little dark and just a tad of wind increase. No doubt that first good feederband is moving in, so should be going down hill from here.

Landfall is due around high tide so will be heading over to the Harbour right away to get some pic's of water level there on the Neuse and will keep up with water levels thru the night and post findings (weather permitting).

Stay safe all!!!!
