I'm finally starting to agree with eveveryone on here. Not only do I think it will be a quiet labor day, but there may not be much season left due to the El Nino. I had no clue the El Nino was even here, but I spent last night running through the posts and checking it out, and I think you are right. I could have sworn on Ernest's grave that the Atlantic wave would have developed. I argued with those who said "poof", but you guys were right and I was wrong. .
I mean, it's a blessing for sure, but it's frustrating at the same time. With the El Nino and the dry air all over the Atlantic, I don't see anything even small scale developing, for a couple of weeks at least....
Call me a naysayer, but other than Ernest(who still can can make it up to a hurricane), the naysayers have been right....

Gonna be nice to watch the Canes and Noles go at it Monday night without a hurricane looming around. Last time they met in the Orange Bowl, Ivan was churning towards S. Fl. Needless to say, it caused a little bit of distraction and anxiety. I'll toast to Beers , Ribs and Hurricanes ! The University of Miami Hurricanes ,of course!! Hope everyone enjoys a safe and happy holiday.

Absolutely!
That's what is so great about this board (most times) is the ability to banter, debate, and discuss our ideas and to do so in an arena that is one of respect. And actually, I hope I am wrong and you are right ... like I've said before, I'm not wishing for ANY hurricanes ... but I wouldn't mind a nice, wet tropical storm to give all of our lawns a nice welcome to fall.

Yeah man! For those of us along the Gulf Coast, we have a long holiday weekend staring us in the face as well as college football season and no worries from the tropics!!

(Actually I try to always use pecan or hickory when I smoke ribs or brisket or even turkey ... great flavoring).
On a related note, I just took a look at the 12z GFS run ... it actually appears to spin up some sort of tropical system off the frontal boundary that is forecasted to move through Texas this weekend and settle in the Gulf by the middle of next week. Hmm ....

I don't buy it. I think this time next week there will be at least one or two systems churning in the Atlantic. They may not be barreling toward the US East coast, but I think they'll be out there.
