People probably lost power, about 20,000 people have lost power in Seminole County already.

"Just listening to the Seminole County EOC briefing. Florida Power & Light reporting "only" 17,800 coastal residents without power at this time
Cloudy, light rain, and slightly breezy here in Cape Canaveral right now."
Found this on the Ernesto thread.

I have to diagree with this. If this was apparently going to be a strong storm EVERYONE would be here no matter where the threat is in the USA. IMO, it mostly has to do with the potential threat and strength of the TC we are tracking no matter where the landfall in the US is.

I think it's because it's a weak system and not really going to be a big deal(the wind aspect anyway). I think the only reason we had so many people here in the first place is because it was originally predicted to be a significant Gulf hurricane.

I started to wonder where did all the pro-mets run off to and then it hit me.
The pro-mets on this board have taken a whooping from alot of immature, childish -removed- members here at storm2k.The pro mets that are members here have their hands full with their own jobs, plus family commitments but yet go out of their way to spread their knowledge on this board only to get ripped up by a bunch of pre-k clowns. I sure the heck wouldn't want to come back here.

Well, I also think some of it has to do with the fact that are just more members in Florida and along the GOM. While there are those of us who will be here just about every day no matter what, there are even more people who come here for information when a storm may be threatening their area. They may not be weather enthusiasts as many others are here, but are concerned about what could happen to them. This is perfectly normal as most people are more interested/concerned if they could potentially be in the line of fire.

ALL of our mets deserve respect and we won't tolerate them "taking a whooping" so if you (and anyone else) could provide a link to the post or page where this occurred, we'll take a look at it. Just PM a mod or admin. We can't possibly read everything, so we do rely on members to alert us to potential problems. We have caught some of this going on, and those members found out just how serious we were.
