I just get a kick over the media hypeing this (storm)...they are creating panic with people buying wood for thier windows and in lines for gas...Sure I believe in the saying "better safe than sorry" but the public is being brainwashed with the hype.

Sorry you cannot blame the media on this one. In fact there is nobody to blame. This is a completely irresponsible statement. Recall earlier today at the 5AM advisory NHC opened up the possibility of a CAT 2-3 into South Florida.

Lol tell me about it. The school ordered us to clear out lockers and to put plastic bags over the computers. People were asking me if they should get prepared...I said don't bother this isn't hitting us. Even if it did, I doubt they would notice...

you cant blame the media==go back and read the earlier discussions from the nhc----suppose it was a cat 3 now and the nhc did not mention that possibility in the earlier discussions--everyone would be complaining about them--

I gotta agree with gator on this one. When I read that NHC snippet in the 5am disco this morning, I about fell out of my chair. I knew at that point that we needed to start our preps - getting the gas, last little things at the store, etc., and I'm not sorry we did. I would be sorry, however, if we had gotten that Cat. 2 or 3 and I had done nothing. IMO, it's MUCH better to be safe than sorry.

The media bashing on this board is getting tiresome, to say the least.

I think this thing is headed for the Gulf. It looks like it's moving Westward to me right now. I think the NHC's track is too far to the East. I've been very UNIMPRESSED with the NHC with this storm.

Thing is its no longer 5am and its forecast to be a TS when it(if) hits.

A very tough storm to predict, in general though if you don't concentrate ON THE LINE, the NHC is right on and included the west coast of Florida in the cone.

Follow the cone NOT the line.

well
the fact that we just had T-numbers up to 3.0
i doubt its dieing..
i think that it still could reach 90 mph before FL
in fact the LLC might be hard to locate, but the cicluation around the area is becoming much better formed

the core is gone. there is no structure left. the nhc even implies that they are just leaving him classified as a TS... it's really a depression... and getting weeker.

He looks dead at this point. Everyone who thinks this has no chance should now shift their eyes to the new wave.

As well as the dismissive, know-it-all-better-than-NHC posts as well.
