Stupid Question

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Stupid Question

#1 Postby Josephine96 » Mon Aug 28, 2006 11:44 am

I am just a bit concerned. But also excited, because if the current track holds, and he stays a Cat 1 all the way up the coast.. I can technically say this will be my "1 for the thumb" :lol: {Erin, Charley, Frances, Jeanne}

Here's my question. An Inland hurricane watch is in effect. Do you guys realistically think I may see Cat 1 winds here in the metro Orlando area?

I know the 5 am trek had it going right on top of my house pretty much :lol: But now with another east shift {and the possibility of it bending back west again :lol:}

I'm thinking moderate to strong TS winds with Cat 1 gusts.. but opinions are welcomed and appreciated..

There is an inland hurrican watch in effect?? LOL, guess I should check the local weather a little! I am glad you posted this questions though, as I lived about 30 minutes from Cape Canaveral and am wondering if I will feel anything...

Most likely it will depend on how large Ernie at closet approach, and if he actually moves inland or stays off the coast.

Dec.. IMHO.. You at the Cape need to prepare for a direct hit from a Cat 1.. Just my 2 cents :wink:

I have doubts it will regain Hurricane Strength by then, especially if it comes off Cuba as a depression.

If the current track prediction holds, we will definitely feel something, what is up for debate at this time. It all depends on how much intensification occurs after Cuba is traversed. We will just have to wait and see at this point.

Anything can happen, but you probably stand about a 50% chance of seeing TS force winds. See the NHC projected wind field map for more details.

My guess is I'll see winds in the 40's and 50's.. Of course.. if he makes it back to Cat 1 somehow.. that'll change..
