Possible Major Hurricane, South Florida Have You Prepared?
I was at the stores last night and saw very little concern for Ernesto. I would advise to not take its current state and go by that. This has me very worried. That would mean a hurricane stronger than Wilma if that verified.
From NHC:
JUST AS ERNESTO IS
APPROACHING THE SOUTHERN FLORIDA PENINSULA IN 48 HOURS. THESE
CONDITIONS WOULD FAVOR THE POSSIBILITY OF ERNESTO BECOMING A
CATEGORY 2 OR EVEN A CATEGORY 3 HURRICANE BEFORE MAKING LANDFALL
ALONG THE FLORIDA COAST.

Well, most of it is already prepared. I learned to get that done at the start of Hurricane season. However, we made a list of things that we didn't have and are heading out to get them. Shutters are out and ready to go. All we really need is some batteries and gas. Filled the car up this morning. Other than that... we just sit and wait.

Excellent lets hope for a track change (east of Florida) and/or a weaker Ernesto.

I just went out to drop off my daughter at school and there was hardly any school traffic. My Dunkin Donuts was empty, too. So I think there are less people out today. My question.......what do all these people tell their bosses?
As far a preps.........I admitt it. I'm in denial and haven't done a thing to prepare. I may bring in some patio furniture tonight and my husband will drive to Key Largo this evening to secure our boats and property there.
However, I just read the NHC discussion regarding the cat 2/3 into Sofla and that has peaked my interest......

good I'm glad to see that. Remember its only Aug 28 and we still have all of Sept and Oct so it is a good idea since if we don't need these supplies this time around we'll be prepared next time.

I'm in denial, I was in the calm eye of Frances, Jeanne, and Wilma! I just cant accept having to put the shutters up for the 4th time in 2 years. Only 4.5 degrees E and 6.5 degrees south of WPB, to miss FL it would have to move NNW, I don't see that much N movement given current location and time of year.

Unfortunately, I did the weekend without tv and computer...and now have to fight to get gas for the generator....I didn't like those comments in the 5 am Disco from NHC...anyone still think a Cat 2/3 storm is possible? All my other supplies are sufficient for about 3-4 days. Not a good timing scenario for people who are not prepared though...to find out you are under a Watch on the way into work...and mostly likely a Warning when you leave work...the stores down here tonight will be absolutely crazy!

I always prepare for the worst... in this case a cat 3. Do I think it will get to that, no. But two days ago I thought he was bound for NO.

And I was quite surprised that only channel 4 was going full time this morning about the storm. Usually, once a warning goes up, it's nonstop on all the local stations.
Anyway, I'm headed down to Costco to fill up the gas cans later this morning. Other than that, the only prep work needed is running extra offsite backups for the servers and puting up shutters.

Obsessed:
This morning, after watching TV news, I thought I could breathe a sigh of relief. Went on my normal morning routine. Noone seemed bothered by the dying TS.
However, after I read the last sentence of the HNC 5am discussion, I'm beginning to worry. If this does pan out to be a cat 2/3 there will be no time to prepare. Even a cat 1 would be horrible, considering we did this not too long ago.
I think the 11am will tell the story, b/c we have to have time to prepare. The REAL story will be when Ernesto comes off the Cuban coast.
