Would a Fla west coast landfall be impossible..?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

I would give it a 3% chance of happening. All guidance suggests Texas to LA.

Josephine96, Just IMHO VERY VERY unlikely. Mainly a high pressure system blocking that area I believe. Now if the high moved to the east then u might have a more chance for that area. Just watch it carefully. ANYTHING could happen!

Even as far north as Cedar Key is from here... If Ernesto grows, big enough we'd have some nasty weather all around..

thank you, every little bit helps... and trust me, we along the MS LA coasts do need all the help we can get... it would be quite hard for the MS and LA coasts to recover from another major storm .... its going to be hard enough as it is recovering from Katrina... I am building the only new beach front home in Biloxi, one year after Katrina... this time I hava a lot more insurance... but if I lose my house I'm building, that will be it for me, I'm going to take the money and run... and I'll just have to give up and move inland...

I wouldn't say it's impossible(nothing in weather is), but it is highly unlikely.

If Ernesto has to hit land, the area where Bret 1999 hit would be probably be one of the "best" places for it to hit, because of the small amount of property and people living there.

VERY unlikely. Our season cranks up at the end of September and lasts through the first of December unless the Gulf cools early.

And usually when we are distracted. A storm forms to our south, we don't pay attention to the cold front then whammo. I wonder if this will be the year we get another Thanksgiving storm....
