This is really neat!!! (please forgive me if this has already been posted)
Could someone who has a good memory for hurricane paths and their
atmospheric conditions at the time( like high pressure that pushed the
hurricane in a particular direction) check out this applet to see if a past
hurricane landfall result is accurate using this interactive map? I have really enjoyed playing with this. Please post your results if you have time.
I would like to know if it really works.

It's not bad, but not accurate from any point of view. I have yet to get one past a Cat 3, even with SSTs at 30C, and the EPAC water at 33C will yield a 4, but no more. The water seems overly cool in the north ATL, and there is no getting a Cat 1 past the VA/NC border, regardless of whether or not it is on the gulf stream. There also always seems to be another high placed over the western gulf whenever you put one out over Bermuda, causing almost every single storm not to recurve. Also there seems to be not enough weakening caused by land and the SSTs and seasons do not correlate that well (i.e. there aren't any 31C SSTs in the Carib in the winter). Trackwise, however, it seems to do well, and it is DEFINATELY fun to play with.

It was posted already but that's all right.
I love how I can push the hurricane around with my little High.
One can even make it go off the page.
The last time I went to this page it worked fine; however it doesn't work now. Before you could change the category manually and make it fall, winter, spring, etc.
