Yes, as someone who lost everything to Rita, I can understand your concern Lindaloo. Believe me, I know what you're going through. The local met mentioned to "our east" and then he pointed to the area from Mobile to all of the Fl. panhandle. Again, that's just one local met. Let's hope that nothing develops and that we can continue to rebuild and recover without anything in addition to deal with. Take care and keep the spirit.

No way! I heard that Dauphin Island is split on the west end now. Is that true? We tow for Dauphin Island PD. When I went down there to get our license I only went to City Hall. I did not have the heart to go down to the west end.

The far West End has been cut off from the rest of the Island...but the cut is past the end of the road...We just finished our house (Katrina finished off our home that had been there since before Frederic)...it's a 2 story that sits 14 feet off the ground...so from our top floor we can see for miles...in the winter we can see the "Emerald City" (Pascagoula refinery complex)...We plan to move in on the anniversary of Katrina

I missed that...we evacuated to (of all places) Meridian...and did not come home until power was restored (about 2 weeks)...no reason to hurry back since we had nothing to come home to...Meridian was actually very nice...it was basically full of refugees and everyone was so nice to us...I was interviewed by ABC Radio from the hotel lobby...I had wireless internet via cell phone and was able to pull up the satellite photos to show people how their neighborhoods survived (or didn't survive the storm)...I remember a happy family from New Orleans...whose neighborhood was still "green" while the rest of the area was "blue or brown"...I also remember a sweet couple who had just moved into an apartment near the Walmart in Long Beach/Gulf Port...we narrowed in on their exact building (or at least the footprint of where their building was stood)...I better stop now...I don't wanna hi-jack this thread...I'll try to save my recollections for the Katrina Anniversary thread

Um. do not even go there. We were just commenting on how pretty the refinery was at night.

See something maybe?
It's looks to me on the latest vis sat loops that something is maybe coming together around 80.0 W. and 17.0 N. It also appears that part of the wave is going to the east pac and the other part is headed northward. Thoughts anyone?

This may be a little off topic, but who remembers the gorgeous sunset the night before Rita? It was the most beautiful thing I ever seen. For Rita down in Terrebonne Parish, it may have been a bit rougher than it was for Katrina. Because we were on the eastern side. But, to get back on topic, I am not going to worry until something actually gets cranking and forms into a depression. This is only a possible situation and not definite.
