I would love to murder the despots who rule that country, but it cannot be done without disaster.

Its an unfortunate world.

Wow kevin, very well said.

Since there was some great links and info on this topic, I decided to post a link to the newest info concerning the test of an actual nuclear weapon.

nresponse/index.html
It seems to me that North Korea keeps marking a line in the sand, and our non response is making them bolder. They test fired the missiles and we did nothing, so they think we will test fire a nuke and they won't do anything. The question is will our response be before or after the test, and will the response after a nuclear test be anything but more rhetoric on our part.

I don't think it is a bluff Yarrah. China's comments yesterday at the UN were surprising and IMO a open warning to NK that if the US senses an impending nuke test by NK, we will take quick action, militarily....

Should the US agree concede (be blackmailed) to certain concessions by North Korea so they don't test fire the nuke? I say no.

The resolution would be based on Chapter 7 of the U.N. Charter that clears the way for the use of force as well as economic sanctions, they said.

Yikes.

The nuclear weapon that North Korea intends to detonate in an underground test is big enough to kill up to 200,000 people were it ever to be used against a city such as Seoul or Tokyo, Russian military experts have revealed.

LONDON: North Korea might defer its first nuclear test by three months, giving time to the United States to lift financial sanctions and return to the negotiation table, a media report said on Sunday.

"If Americans don't start bilateral dialogue with Pyongyang and lift sanctions, them Kim Jong-il is expected to give order to carry on with the test, most likely in the second half of December or early January," the Sunday Telegraph quoted anonymous Russian military officials as saying.

The Stalinist state had announced last week that it would conduct an underground nuclear test giving way to speculation that it might come as early as Sunday.

"Normally, if Pyongyang makes an important and provocative announcement, it tries to heat up to the maximum point, and then suddenly falls silent for a long time," the officials said.

The 10ft long weapon, weighing 4 tonnes with a 20-kiloton yield, is capable of killing 200,000 people, the officials were quoted by the paper.
