Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm sure a boat load of people are happy though. 2006 is not close to a record though since we are at a normal pace so far.

comparing things to averages is less meaningful
averages can be computed but they are misleading
there are seasons witht 20 storms and seasons that there are 7.
and when u put them together u get an "average number of storms per year based on the history of all storms"
the term an average season is an abstraction from that information and i do not beleive should be used for seasonal progress and comparisons, although it is human nature to compare (everything) and if u can't ; u desing and find ways to
i would like to know if the breakdown per season based on our climatology records show that there is a higher incidents of seasons that are either very high or very low in comparison with those that represent what the average equates to. if anyone understands what i'm getting at

I'll make you a deal. I will agree with you if you will pay for my homeowners insurance and repair costs from any hurricanes that you find entertaining.

That was just a statement of what is going on right now will. I think that what we've been discussing in the other threads about the shear will come to fruition in the next few weeks.
I hope that whatever storms we do see, they do not impact the coasts or if they do decide to pay a visit, they are MUCH tamer than the ones we had the prior two years.
