Here the report from the "ariel mapping mission" they did after Charley:

http://www.weather.gov/om/data/pdfs/CharleyPSDA.pdf

According to this, the landfall area saw many gusts of 125-145mph, with a few reports of gusts to 170-175mph.

you should see the Iniki eyewall video

entire houses go flying down the street, entire roofs go at once. Some of the most famous hurricane video ever.

I believe that Charley and Iniki are the only real cat 4 videos available (not sure about the Dan Rather in Andrew live reports, they may not have been able to get a signal during the worst of the conditions)

I've only seen it on TV, but it is on most every hurricane video produced (especially the ones from the 1990's)

The only places I can find on line want to charge you to watch it or buy the video. I guess copyrights have been reserved. I am going to keep looking though.

I found this Documentary called "Hurricane Force" on Google video. It talkes about many aspects of various storms, but also goes into some detail on Hurricane Iniki. It includes some pretty good wind/damage video shots as well (but not the video Derek mentioned):

**The Iniki section begins on minute 19 of the video.**

I think I have seen the footage you were talking about before. I remember something like that. I have a National Geographic video called "Cyclone!" and it has some sweet footage of this house or trailer being carried away while the Filmer was inside this large room that looked like an airport. There was also footage of a roof being totally blown off all at once. I couldn't tell if that was from a tropical cyclone or tornado. And that video is from the 90s like you said  .

The only places I can find on line want to charge you to watch it or buy the video. I guess copyrights have been reserved. I am going to keep looking though.

I think that is the main reason why some videos are hard to find on the internet and others aren't. Especially when it comes to downloading the video to your hard drive.

That's too bad. Looks like the guy who posted the video on Youtube was doing so illegally. Either way, here is a 30 second sample of the footage from Jim Edds website http://www.extremestorms.com:

BTW, here are some other nice hurricane videos I came across while searching on Youtube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnVKU6ZF_08 <<Eyewall of Hurricane Dennis

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcmhzmseZPc <<Good 8 minute home video from someone who went through hurricane Charley in SW Florida. It does not look like they were hit with the worst of it (Cat. 4 winds), but they did still look to receive Cat. 1 conditions with gusts to 100mph+.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_SonurXoY8A <<Awesome Katrina video. Dolphins are swimming in the pool! If you listen to the guys in the background they also mention that they are getting gusts over 100mph. Also, at one point there is a possible tornado!.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvOm7TZ7s_4 << A good 2 minute video of Wilma hitting south FL.

The Katrina Video was from Mark Sudduth and Mike Watkins....aka...the HIRT team.....HurricaneTrack.com and TropicalUpdate.com.....this video was an excerpt from a movie that Mark made of last year's record activity....just an FYI...very good video though...
