In fairness, I don't think people are expecting a 2005 every year. What people are concerned about is the fact that there seems to be no end in sight to the high shear. It is hard for a hurricane to form in the present conditions. The Dr. Gray forecast is calling for a very bullish 15 named storms and 7 hurricanes/3 major. It will take a big change in the upper level winds for those numbers to verify. So I dont think people are upset with 3 storms. The concern is how hostile the conditions are. That could change, we'll see. And do we really need a new "season dead" thread? Even if it is meant to be sarcastic, it gets old.

2005 is not the normal! It was unprecedented.
It is unwise to expect a season like that for a long time. It could happen soon, of course, but this season has by no means been a slow season. 3 named storms by August 7. That's above climatology.

2005 wasn't a normal season. We got 2005A and 2005B. This season is what you consider (average or just above). So far I'm happy with the season. No major destructions, no rise in the fuel price because of hurricanes, no possible rise in the energy & insurance bill because of this year's hurricanes (none so far). So, if anyone wants a really active season, the solution is really simple, follow the Western Pacific.
