Yes it does. It is on the northern side of a huge upper low over the GOM. NWS discussion said there is a low their with a weak surface reflection.

That ULL looks like its losing its punch to me....and the radar on Mobile looks *somewhat* interesting

Whats bad is we are in a major drought, and we did not get one drop of rain out of it. It wen't offshore from Pensacola Eastward. :( If the convection continues to hang in there it could get interesting. It has happened before. Example Danny 1997.

Ouch!!! Now that I look at data it looks to be a likely converces zone...Meaning the winds coming off of the backside of the ULL is running up a surface trough/surface vort. Which is forcing the air to rise. This is nothing with that 30 knot shear.

Also notice that outflow boundry going right over Mobile County. (on radar)

Marine warnings are now up for coastal Mississippi and Louisiana. Viewing the base reflectivity loop on the doppler out of NOLA is interesting. It almost looks like rotation?

Alicia 83 developed from a similar scenario. Sometime a tropical system can develop from a cluster of thunderstorms that move offshore but its very rare. It did catch my eye this morning as you can see outflow over the storms.

Steve Lyons just spent a good bit of time on this area...reminded us that Alicia formed similarly...pointed out the "mid-level rotation" south of Pensacola...showed the system moving general SW...actually spent more time on this than Chris

I have one word. Oh My! When did this thing come up. I don't think it was there last night. My husband is out deep sea fishing. They left yesterday morning and are supposed to be coming back this afternoon. Ummm! They have to go through that mess. I am going down to the Gulf to clean a condo and was going to meet them as the boat came in around 3pm. Now I wonder how they are going to get in. Which way is this thing moving?


Is this the same Alicia of 83 that you are talking about?
